Co-Worker Hunts Down And Runs Over Colleague With Car, Severing Leg
A shocking incident of workplace violence has left a 29-year-old man, Trae Black, in critical condition after his co-worker, Matthew William Lawson, 25, allegedly hunted him down and hit him with a car following an argument at a construction site in Perth, Australia.
According to eyewitnesses, Trae fled the scene after the altercation, but Matthew chased him in his Mazda Ute and struck him, severing Trae’s leg. The victim stumbled around, asking for help, before good Samaritans intervened, using a handbag strap as a tourniquet to stem the bleeding.
The incident occurred on a highway in Perth, which was closed temporarily as officers investigated and transported Trae to seek medical treatment. Matthew was charged with attempted murder and appeared in Perth Magistrates Court, where he pleaded guilty.
Deputy Police Commissioner Allan Adams described the incident as “violence to the absolute extreme,” alleging that Matthew hit Trae with his vehicle, causing significant injury, and then assaulted him with a demolition hammer.
The workplace incident has left employees distraught, with their boss, “Horse” Elliott, expressing shock and sadness at the unexpected turn of events. As the investigation continues, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for workplace conflicts to escalate into deadly violence.
