Social Media Prankster, ZFancy, Arrested By Police Over Viral Videos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular social media prankster, ZFancy, whose real name is Emmanuel Ejike, for creating and sharing viral videos that allegedly
promote cybercrime and fraud.
ZFancy, known for his controversial and often misleading pranks, was taken into custody on Tuesday morning at his residence in the Lekki area of Lagos. The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, stating that ZFancy’s videos had
been under investigation for some time. “We have been monitoring his activities, and we have sufficient evidence to charge him to court,” Hundeyin said. ZFancy’s pranks often involve
him posing as a wealthy individual, flaunting cash and luxury items, and then claiming to be a victim of fraud or robbery.
His videos have garnered millions of views on social media platforms, with many criticizing his content as promoting fraudulent behavior and glorifying cybercrime. The arrest has sparked a debate
about the responsibility of social media influencers and content creators.
While some have defended ZFancy’s right to freedom of expression, others have applauded the police for taking action against his alleged promotion of fraudulent activities.
The Lagos State Police Command has vowed to continue monitoring social media platforms to combat cybercrime and fraud. ZFancy faces charges under the Cybercrime Act and may face up to five years in prison if convicted.
