Mckenzie Kerry Makes History As Second Black Woman To Win Miss Iowa USA In Over 70 Years
McKenzie Kerry, 25, has been crowned Miss Iowa USA, becoming only the second Black woman to win the title in over 70 years. After three years of competing,
Kerry achieved this milestone, making her a trailblazer for Black women and girls in her community. Kerry’s journey to the crown involved months of preparation, including supporting local businesses like Aminna Taylor’s jewelry design. Kerry wore Taylor’s gold mesh hoop earrings for her final look, boosting the small business.
As Miss Iowa USA, Kerry aims to use her platform to uplift Black women, support small businesses, and make a positive impact in her community. She will represent Iowa at the Miss USA pageant in Hollywood, California, this August.
“I’m honored to represent myself and my Black history,” Kerry said. “I think we all have the power to elevate the things we care about and to bring other people with us.”
Kimma Wreh (CIO, Excel Global Media Group Inc) provided keynote address on Cybersecurity and Data Protection in Africa at the Innovate Africa Conference 2024. The conference was held at George Washington University in Washington DC in September 2024.
