Mbaise USA Convention 2024: Aguwa and Iwuh Vie for Top Spot as Community Celebrates Culture and Tradition in North Carolina

The 2024 Mbaise USA Convention is set to take place in North Carolina from July 10th to 14th, and the excitement is building! Diaspora Watch can report that this year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring a packed schedule of activities, cultural celebrations, and a highly anticipated presidential election. Two distinguished candidates, Alozie A. Aguwa and Chief Sir Wilson Iwuh, are vying for the top spot, each offering a unique vision for the future of Mbaise USA.

The convention will kick off with an innovation workshop and leadership forum, then a bang at the Mbaise Millennials Mega Gala and Extravaganza, showcasing the vibrant culture and traditions of the Mbaise community. The event will feature stunning performances, delicious cuisine, and a chance for members to connect and celebrate their heritage. As the convention progresses, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in various activities, including seminars, workshops, and town hall meetings. These events will focus on topics such as economic empowerment, healthcare, and education, providing a platform for members to share ideas and address pressing issues. The presidential election will take center stage in the course of the convention.

Alozie A. Aguwa and Chief Sir Wilson Iwuh will present their visions and qualifications to the membership, each hoping to secure the top spot. Aguwa’s “Forward Progress Mbaise” campaign promises to expand funding sources, complete the Medical City (Medville Project) in Nigeria, and develop programs to enhance skills and opportunities for Mbaise people. Iwuh’s comprehensive vision focuses on economic empowerment, healthcare, and education, with initiatives such as planting palm and coconut trees, building emergency care units, and increasing scholarships for high school graduates. Both candidates have impressive resumes and a deep commitment to the Mbaise community. Aguwa’s extensive experience in tax accounting and corporate management, combined with his philanthropic efforts through Human Touch International, Inc., make him a strong contender. Iwuh’s leadership experience and achievements in establishing a hall for the Mbaise Family Association and providing scholarships demonstrate his dedication to the community.

As the Mbaise USA community gathers in North Carolina, they will not only be celebrating their rich culture and traditions but also shaping the future of their organization. The 2024 convention promises to be an unforgettable experience, and the election will be a testament to the community’s commitment to progress and development. Will Aguwa’s “Forward Progress Mbaise” vision prevail, or will Iwuh’s comprehensive approach win the day?  The decision lies in the hands of the membership, and the world will be watching as Mbaise USA charts its course for the future.

In a world where global connections are redefining identities, cultures, and nations, the 36th edition of Diaspora Watch delves into the complexities of transnationalism, cosmopolitanism, and creolization.

This edition brings together diverse perspectives on diaspora, from the experiences of African diasporic communities to the evolving notion of diaspora itself.

As we reflect on the changing landscapes of diaspora, we are reminded of the power of global connections in shaping our understanding of identity, culture, and belonging.

From Peter Obi’s advocacy for electoral transparency in Nigeria to the trailblazing leadership of Aisha Braveboy in Maryland politics, this edition of Diaspora Watch celebrates the achievements and contributions of diasporic communities worldwide.

We also examine the intricate relationships between diaspora, globalization, and power, as seen in the impact of USAID funds on terrorism, including Boko Haram, and the freezing of mineral exports in Malawi.

Furthermore, we explore the role of social media in transforming lives, as exemplified by Peller’s journey from carpentry to earning millions on TikTok.
