Biden Expresses Concerns Over Peaceful Transition Of Power If Trump Loses

US President Joe Biden has cast doubt on a peaceful transition of power if Donald Trump loses the presidential election in November, citing Trump’s previous comments about a potential “bloodbath” if he loses.

In his first interview since dropping out of the presidential race last month, Biden told CBS News: “If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all… He means what he says, we don’t take him seriously. He means it, all this stuff about ‘if we lose it will be a bloodbath’.”

Biden’s concerns stem from Trump’s comments in March, where he said it would “be a bloodbath for the country” if he loses the election. Democrats quickly criticized Trump’s remarks, accusing him of threatening democracy. The Biden campaign used the comment in a social media ad, and a spokesman accused Trump of “encouraging and excusing political violence.”

The Trump campaign responded by saying the comment was taken out of context and specifically referred to the auto industry. Trump himself wrote on social media that his opponents had “viciously” misquoted him, and that he was only discussing the impact of imports on the automobile industry. B

iden has previously expressed concerns that Trump would not accept the election results, citing Trump’s repeated unfounded claims of election fraud in 2020. Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building in January 2021 in an effort to stop the election result from being certified.

In the CBS interview, Biden also suggested that there were efforts to complicate the post-election certification processes, saying: “Look what they’re trying to do now, in the local election districts where people count the votes… You can’t love your country only when you win.”
