As the global stage prepares for the 79th United Nations General Assembly, we are thrilled to announce the release of the 17th edition of Diaspora Watch. This vibrant publication serves as a beacon, illuminating the pivotal issues and remarkable achievements of the African diaspora community.
In this edition, we spotlight Ahunna Eziakonwa, a prominent leader with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who champions trade empowerment and connectivity across continents in Africa. We are also anticipating the compelling address by Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, at this year’s UN session, showcasing the urgency of international cooperation.
Economic prospects shine bright as we explore Nigeria’s ambitious projection of a $400 billion economy by 2026. We delve into Innoson’s groundbreaking electric vehicle lineup, a cornerstone of Nigeria’s green revolution, poised to transform the automotive landscape.
Tackling the delicate and contentious discourse, we confront former President Trump’s alarming statement regarding Israel’s existence being at risk should Kamala Harris win the highly anticipated November 5 U.S. Presidential Election. This provocative assertion raises crucial questions about political rhetoric and international relations.
Moreover, we address urgent concerns facing Africa, including evolving espionage threats highlighted by recent panic stemming from pager explosions in Beirut, devastating floods in West and Central Africa, and a rising tide of anti-foreigner sentiment worldwide. Our coverage extends to the inspiring stories of African refugees in the U.S. who are embracing agriculture as a pathway to new beginnings, alongside Arsenal’s Khari Ranson, who takes pride in his Nigerian-Ghanaian heritage.
On a more uplifting note, we introduce you to Lyzianah Emakoua, our featured Diva—a dynamic young leader and founder of the Center for Community Impact and Sustainability (CCIS). As the USA Executive Director of Hallmark International Youth Club (HIYC), Lyzianah is making significant strides in empowering communities and youth.
Join us as we navigate the intricate tapestry of the African diaspora experience, celebrating its complexities and successes. Together, let us forge a brighter future.
The launch of the UN’s “Pact for the Future” underscores the urgent need for collective action in addressing global challenges. Through Diaspora Watch, we amplify the diverse voices and powerful African narratives that shape our world.
