Foreign Mercenaries Fueling Planned Protest, Says IG
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has raised the alarm over the involvement of foreign mercenaries in a planned protest in the country.
According to the IG, intelligence reports indicate that some individuals and groups have hired foreign mercenaries to participate in the protest, which is aimed at destabilizing the country.
The police boss warned that the involvement of foreign elements in the protest is a clear threat to national security and warned those involved to desist from such actions.
The IG also assured Nigerians that the police are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of citizens and to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
The planned protest, which is reportedly being organized by some opposition groups, has been generating tension in the country, with many fearing a repeat of the 2020 #EndSARS protests that turned violent.
