King Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II Stabbed To Death By Sister In US

A shocking incident has occurred at the Oyotunji African Village in Beaufort County, South Carolina, leaving the community in mourning. King Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II, the 47-year-old monarch of the village, was allegedly stabbed to death by his sister, Akiba Kasale Meredith, 53, during a heated argument. According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Monday, July 29, 2024, at around 2:45 p.m.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Meredith was identified as the suspect and was found a short time later, charged with murder, and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

The Oyotunji African Village, founded by Oba Efuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi I in 1970, is a community that celebrates African culture and tradition. The late monarch, in a 2017 interview with Punch Newspaper, revealed that he had seven wives and was dedicated to promoting African heritage.

The investigation is ongoing, and details about the incident are still emerging. The community is in shock, and tributes are pouring in for the late king.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of conflict resolution and the need for peaceful communication.
