Diaspora Watch is thrilled to introduce the “Diaspora Diva” page, a vibrant and inspiring segment dedicated to celebrating the achievements and contributions of exceptional African women in the diaspora. This regular feature will showcase the dazzling accomplishments of these remarkable individuals, who are making a significant impact in their respective fields and communities.
From entrepreneurs and artists to activists and professionals, the Diaspora Diva page will highlight the stories and successes of African women who are breaking barriers and pushing boundaries. Through their remarkable journeys and achievements, we aim to inspire and empower others to strive for excellence and make a positive difference in the world.
We invite amazing diaspora-based African women to share their stories and be featured in this exciting publication.
Adorning the maiden edition of the page is Chinyere Eze, a healthcare executive based in Maryland, United States.

Diaspora Diva – Kelly Nwogu
Kelly Nwogu is a dedicated Public Health professional, born and raised in Washington, DC. Her passion for public health began as a teen peer educator with The Young Women’s Project, where she taught her peers about healthy relationships, sexual health, and reproductive justice. That early experience sparked a lifelong commitment to empowering others and improving community well-being.
Today, Kelly works at the inter-section of workforce development, healthcare, and public service leading strategic HR initiatives at DC Department of Health. She oversees employee training, onboarding, performance management, and learning programs that help build a strong, engaged, and equity-focused public health workforce.
With a strong foundation in both human resources and public health, she bridges policy and practice to help organizations and individuals thrive. Outside of work, Kelly loves to travel, explore new music and food, and spend time with family. As a proud daughter of Nigerian immigrants, she brings cultural depth and global perspective to her work and relationships. She is currently exploring a return to school to pursue a clinical path in nursing—with the long-term goal of launching her own health-focused business.

As a dynamic and passionate Cameroonian-American residing in Virginia, Ryna Ebwe is making waves in her community through her innovative approach to storytelling and leadership. With a background in technical project management and a heart for serving others, Ryna embodies the spirit of service, compassion, and empowerment.
Born in Cameroon, Ryna’s cultural heritage has deeply influenced her passion for community building and service. After moving to the United States, she pursued higher education at Western Governors University, where she honed her skills in technical project management. Today, Ryna works as a Technical Project Manager in Virginia, leveraging her expertise to drive positive change. However, Ryna’s true calling lies in her podcast show, Ryna king podcast. This platform provides a safe space for individuals from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences, struggles, and triumphs.
By amplifying these stories, Ryna aims to foster empathy, understanding, and connection within the Virginia community. One notable guest on Ry-na’s podcast has been Bolana-le Ninolowo, a thought leader and change agent in his own right. Their conversation delved into themes of resilience, faith, and community empowerment, showcasing Ryna’s ability to facilitate meaningful discussions.
Ryna’s commitment to her community is rooted in her faith in Jesus. Diaspora Diva – Aisha Bowe
Aisha Bowe is a force to be reckoned with. As a Bahamian-American aerospace engineer, founder, and entrepreneur, she’s breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings in the male-dominated STEM industry. Bowe’s impressive resume boasts a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a stint at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
She’s also the co-founder and CEO of STEM Board, a company that provides professional advisory services to organizations in the U.S. government. But what’s truly remarkable about Bowe is her commitment to empowering young women and minorities in STEM. Through her company, LINGO, she’s created educational kits that make coding and robotics accessible to kids from all backgrounds. Bowe’s achievements have not gone unnoticed.
She’s received numerous awards, including the NASA Equal Employment Opportunity Medal, the US Women’s Chamber of Commerce Emerging Star Award, and the 2024 Woman of the Year award from STEM for Her.
And if that’s not enough, Bowe is set to make history as the first black woman to travel with Blue Origin on their New Shepard launch vehicle. She’ll be joining a crew of esteemed individuals, including Katy Perry and Gayle King, on a mission to space.
Bowe is an inspiration to young women and girls everywhere, proving that with dedication and perseverance, they too can achieve greatness in STEM. As Bowe prepares for her historic space voyage, we celebrate her achievements and honor her commitment to empowering the next generation of STEM leaders.
